We have answers! Below are some of the questions we hear most frequently about retirement at Lutheran Community at Telford and The Community at Rockhill. (Sellersville Senior Residences operates differently from our Continuing Care Retirement Communities.)

General Questions

Are there volunteer opportunities at your communities?

Yes! We have many opportunities available at Lutheran Community at Telford and The Community at Rockhill for those wishing to share their time and talents with our residents. Are the communities religiously affiliated?

We welcome residents and team members of all faith traditions, and encourage members of our communities to maintain ties to their lifelong sources of spiritual support.

The Community at Rockhill is a caring ministry of the Franconia Mennonite Conference, a member of Mennonite Church USA, and draws its unique character and atmosphere of generous loving service from Mennonite values.

Lutheran Community at Telford was originally founded through the support of twelve area Lutheran churches, who saw a need to provide care to their aging parishioners. Today, we have continued support from eleven founding churches and two newly-supporting churches. We are committed to a Christian environment dedicated to the compassionate, loving and spiritual well-being of our residents.

Where are your communities located?

The Community at Rockhill is located on a picturesque 44-acre campus conveniently located just off of Route 309 on Route 152. Situated in beautiful Bucks County, our campus offers an easy commute to nearby Doylestown and Quakertown, and is within an hour’s drive of both Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley.

Lutheran Community at Telford is located on a 50-acre property in a small town setting of Telford, Bucks County, PA. There is easy access to Route 309, a major artery connecting Philadelphia with the northern suburbs of Quakertown and Bethlehem. Our community is conveniently located with walkability to a grocery store, public library and farmer’s market.

Exploring the Communities

May I decorate my residence as I wish?

Yes! All of our apartments and cottages are unfurnished, enabling you to create the personal warmth of your home with your own furnishings and décor. Customization is not only allowed, it’s encouraged!

I like to entertain and host visitors. Is this a problem?

We encourage our residents to entertain friends and family whenever they wish. There is no charge for overnight guests staying in your apartment/cottage. We also offer large gathering spaces and other facilities that can be reserved for reunions and larger groups.

May I bring my car?

Yes! Many residents maintain their own cars and enjoy reserved parking spaces, carports or garages for their vehicles. For those who no longer drive a vehicle, we provide trips to the grocery store, local shopping centers, etc.

May I bring my pet with me when I move to a Grace Inspired Community?

Yes! Our communities allow cats, dogs, birds and fish in our Independent Living apartments. Of course, certain limitations apply, so be sure to talk to your residency counselor about your pet. In other levels of care, pet therapy is provided by visits from therapy animals.

How does the dining program work?

Say hello to fresh choices and flexible dining. At Community at Rockhill and Lutheran Community at Telford, residents can enjoy meals prepared to order by our in-house culinary team, at four different restaurants across the two campuses. We offer a variety of declining balance meal plans based on the frequency at which the resident wishes to dine in our restaurants. Whether you wish to dine daily with friends or cook up a storm in your well-appointed kitchen, we have a dining plan for you. Plans vary between communities, so please ask your Residency Counselor for specific details.

Will I have to check in and out?

As an active senior, you are free to come and go as you please just as you did before you moved to our communities. Residents are given keys that unlock their individual residences as well as all exterior doors. Without the worries of property maintenance, you’ll likely find you have more freedom as a resident.

What happens if I become ill and require more care?

Our communities offer a full Continuum of Care, including Personal Care (Memory Care at Lutheran Community at Telford), Health Care and Rehabilitation Services. Our residents receive priority for entrance on their respective campus (upon availability).

Understanding Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs)

What is a CCRC?

A Continuing Care Retirement Community provides Independent Living, Personal Care and Healthcare (Skilled Nursing), as well as a full range of wellness and supportive services all on one campus. Residents benefit from an active lifestyle and gain peace of mind knowing that their future healthcare needs will not only be met but also continuous, with a relatively seamless transition.

What is the difference between a CCRC and a "Life Plan Community?"

They are one in the same; these two terms are used synonymously.

What role does long-term care insurance have in paying for a CCRC?

Individuals who have already obtained long-term care insurance to help pay for higher levels of health care may find a fee-for-service CCRC like ours to be particularly appealing. Long-term care insurance policies vary based on the provider but may cover Personal Care, Skilled Nursing and other healthcare services.

What is the difference between a fee-for-service CCRC, or Life Plan Community, and a Life Care Community?

At a fee-for-service Continuing Care Retirement Community, which can also be referred to as “Life Plan Community,” residents only pay for the services they are using at that particular time as they move through the continuum of care. In a Life Care Community, residents pay higher entrance fees and monthly fees, which typically remain constant wherever they reside within the continuum.

What is the difference between Personal Care and Assisted Living?

The terms “Assisted Living” and “Personal Care” were interchangeable until 2011 when the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania began licensing them separately. Today, a Personal Care home offers housing, meals and assistance with medications and activities of daily living. Assisted Living offers the same services but will provide Skilled Nursing care, if needed, with a goal of aging in place.

Our CCRCs hold a philosophy of aging in place as well, but we offer skilled services as part of the Continuum of Care, beginning with Independent Living and transitioning to Personal Care and Skilled Nursing (Healthcare) on an as needed basis.

There is no funding available for either Personal Care or Assisted Living.

Financial and Insurance Considerations

Is your Healthcare Center Medicare and Medicaid approved?

Yes!

Do residents need to carry homeowner’s insurance?

Grace Inspired Living insures the buildings and grounds. Residents are required to obtain a renter’s insurance policy to cover personal property and liability.

Is the monthly fee fixed or is it subject to change?

Monthly fees are typically adjusted from time to time. These adjustments help our communities maintain the level of service residents expect while compensating for inflation and other operating charges.
